the POLAR EXPEDITION
Infographic for the National Geographic magazine about the Arctic balloon expedition carried out by three Swedish engineers in 1897.
One of the explorers, Salomon August Andrée, invented a drag-rope steering technique which was ineffective. The balloon lost hydrogen quickly and crashed on the pack iced a few days later. The explorers tried to survive for three months on the ice floe. Their remains were found in 1930 by a Norwegian expedition.
I built the miniature using materials such as wood, rope, cardboard, fabrics and PVC.

This project consists of two parts, printed infographics and interactive infographics. With the later one, I can broaden the information compiled in the first. Interactive link.
